I have wonderful memories of us all watching it at my childminder's house.

Mary below - I'm so pleased to learn that someone else remembers the beach song on the video! I wondered if perhaps my childminder had taped it, and that the scene was something that just happened to be on tv at the time...

If anyone happens to know anything about it, I'd love to know!

Our video (old Betamax version!) was THE no. 1 favourite with our children in the early eighties - I have such happy memories of us all sitting round our little old TV watching this. They have now all fled the nest, but I could not resist buying the dvd recently to surprise them when we occasionally all get ('stand') together! A local hill has a small tree at the top where we often took a picnic and hot air balloons are a common site here in the summer (the Chilterns); naturally the hill was named 'Rupert's Hill' by our children, neighbours and friends then began to refer to it as such, and it is still recognised as Rupert's Hill over 20 years later! However - correct me if I'm mistaken - on the original video I recall a glorious little song, set on a tropical beach, a little girl cooking (fish?) with her Mum, and another song, 'Oriental Nightfish'. When ordering the dvd I assumed it would be a copy of the original video and so I'm a bit disappointed that these two lovely songs are not on it. Please can anyone tell me if these are available on another dvd and what should I look out for?

Hi i remember when my mum & dad used to play the frog song for me as i was going to sleep, and my dad used to recored the cartoons off the tv and i used to make my uncle watch them with me for hours at a time.

And now i have collected all the annuals and i have all the little rupert bear library and i have a talking rupert bear that has human hands

I am a massive Rupert fan. I am pleased to find out that Paul McCartney was also a huge fan and hence Rupert and the Frog Song came about.

When I was young, I would read the annuals and escape into Rupert's fantasy world. Once Rupert is in your system, that's it. I now collect all the annuals and comics and love them just as much now as I did as a child.

A lovely site, Matt.

I knew Rupert from the Nelvana series here in America growing up but when I met my husband from the Isle of Man, he went on and on about this frog song I'd never heard of. Several ebay searches later, we got a VHS copy of it and had it converted. I can tell it was a huge part of his growing up and it has certainly grown on me as well.

Wonderful, wonderful song. Time for innocence!

I have grown up with Rupert. My late mum had brought the annuals each year and i promise her the night before she died that i would continue to get the annals each year. i have kept the promise and continue to do so.

I have loved Rupert for as long as I can remember, my first Rupert was thrown on the fire by my mum, I never forgave her for that, the replacement was an ordinary teddy that soon lost it's ears plus. As I grew older Rupert didn't feature in my life until about ten years ago when I went to a do in Valentines Park in Ilford, Essex and bought a garden Rupert and from that time I have become a member of the followers of Rupert and own many Rupert items including Annuals, Cuddly Ruperts, plates, cups, mugs, keyrings, bookends I have even got a beaker showing the new Rupert, all my things I get off ebay and last year I treated myself to a talking Rupert, the new one, from Boots, I am 63 now and as one of my fridge magnets states growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.

I remember getting the book and audio tape from Santa many moons ago, plus the added bonus of a walkman to play it on!!! The tape wore out long before the book sadly, but will always love that song!!!

I always remember being slightly scared by 'The Oriental Nightfish' video!

Hello everyone, I'm from Mexico City and when I was a kid I used to watch the video clip of the song when our local kids channel ( Channel 5 ) started or ended transmissions during the 80's, I LOVED this song along with my family and now that I'm 31 It brings me back memories when I was a Kid, Beautiful!
